Veterans Day Statement
It is every Americans’ patriotic duty to ensure that these veterans can access the benefits and services they so rightly deserve, including comprehensive health services, employment and educational opportunities. This care must also include support for their families, for they too have sacrificed much for all of us. (Sunrise, Fla.) – Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) released the following statement on Veterans Day, which is observed each year on November 11th:
“On Veterans Day, we offer words of praise, parades, and silent reflection to the brave men and women who sacrificed so much to protect this nation’s highest ideals and cherished freedoms we all enjoy.
These tributes are important, but on this day we must acknowledge that America owes them so much more. On Veterans Day, all Americans – especially those who never donned a uniform – must reckon with the debt that we all owe to those who have served.
It is every Americans’ patriotic duty to ensure that these veterans can access the benefits and services they so rightly deserve, including comprehensive health services, employment and educational opportunities. This care must also include support for their families, for they too have sacrificed much for all of us.
This heroism can only be repaid by ensuring that all veterans and their families share in the American Dream they fought to defend. This Veterans Day, let all Americans take a vow to fully support and never forget those who have served.”
