Wasserman Schultz Statement on Anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid
Pembroke Pines, FL – U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) issued the following statement today in celebration of the 51stanniversary of Medicare and Medicaid:
“Today we celebrate the 51st anniversary of Medicare and Medicaid. We celebrate 51 years of ensuring our senior citizens – who have sustained and strengthened our nation with their tireless work – are able to live their lives secure in Medicare’s promise that they have health insurance. We celebrate Medicaid for the working families, children, and seniors who are living in poverty and deserve quality health care just like every other American.
“Here in Florida, I celebrate this anniversary for the tens of thousands of seniors in my Congressional district, Florida’s 23rd, who rely on these programs, and promise that I will continue to protect and strengthen Medicare and Medicaid in Congress. I will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with my House Democratic colleagues against disastrous Republican proposals that would weaken the bedrock promises of Medicare and Medicaid and deny millions of seniors and future generations the health security they have earned.”
