WASSERMAN SCHULTZ STATEMENT IN HONOR OF YOM KIPPUR
Weston, Fla. – U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued the following statement in honor of Yom Kippur:
“As the sun sets on Shabbat tonight, we gather with our families and friends for Kol Nidre – the holiest night in the Jewish year. On this solemn night and Day of Atonement, we contemplate our actions and words of the past year, and ask forgiveness of those we have wronged, and reflect on how we can be better in the year ahead.
“Since Rosh Hashanah, we have recommitted ourselves to returning to our core values – – tshuva, tzedakah and tefillah – repentance, prayer and acts of loving kindness. Looking forward to the year ahead, we renew our dedication to tikkun olam – repairing the world, and strengthening our communities – big and small. We all come together to pursue the values that bind us together.
“From my family to yours, Shabbat shalom, a sweet new year, and I wish all those observing Yom Kippur an easy fast. May you and your loved ones be inscribed for another year in the Book of Life.”
