DNC CHAIR DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ’S STATEMENT ON MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY
In recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is tomorrow, DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz issued the following statement:
“Tomorrow we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a champion of equality and civil rights who forged a path toward a country that is more fair and just. In the years since his death, we have traveled a long way down that path, but our task is not complete and we must continue to better ourselves and our country by upholding the timeless values that Dr. King exemplified: equality, courage, compassion, and justice.
“This year, as we celebrate the second inauguration of President Obama, we are reminded of Dr. King’s words that moved our nation, and we must renew our commitment to the values that Dr. King embodied. In this way, we can not only honor his life, we can ensure his legacy lives on.”
