Rep. Wasserman Schultz Statement on Cease Fire Agreement
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20) made the following statement about the cease fire agreement between Israel and Gaza:
“Throughout these difficult and troubling days, I am proud that the United States, at every level, has stood by our ally Israel’s side. We have stood up for Israel’s sovereign right to self-defense and supported tools like the Iron Dome missile defense system, which has been instrumental in protecting Israeli lives.
“I am especially grateful for the hard work of President Obama, Secretary Clinton, and other Administration officials for their pivotal role in bringing to an end eight days of violence in Israel and the Gaza Strip.
“We pray the cease fire holds, and that it represents not merely a cessation of violence, but a chance to move toward a real and lasting peace in the Middle East. Our focus now must be on a permanent solution that guarantees Israel’s security and enduring regional stability.”
