Rep. Wasserman Schultz Statement on Averted Crisis For Israelis in Cairo

WASHINGTON – Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20) expressed relief that the incident at the Israeli Embassy in Cairo has been resolved:

“After a tense and worrisome night at the Israeli Embassy in Cairo, I am relieved that crisis has been averted and the Israelis have been safely evacuated. As Prime Minister Netanyahu acknowledged in his statement, ‘I’m glad we managed to prevent a disaster and would like to thank U.S. President Barack Obama for his help. He activated all of the United States’ means and influence…I believe we owe him a special debt of gratitude. This testifies to the powerful alliance between Israel and the United States.’ And I’m pleased to know that President Obama and the Israeli government were working hand in glove to resolve this incident, while we pushed the Egyptians to fulfill their security obligations to our friend and ally, Israel.”
