Rep. Wasserman Schultz stands with local businesses who want Jobs Act passed

Hallandale Beach, Fla. – Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-20) met with three local small business owners and Mayor Joy Cooper of Hallandale Beach on Monday as they called on Congress to pass the American Jobs Act, legislation that would help 98 percent of all small businesses in America.

“Small business is the engine of our economy,” said Rep. Wasserman Schultz. “Since most Americans get their first job through a small business, and with 60 to 80 percent of new jobs coming from them, it is imperative that small businesses have the support they need to be able to expand or launch new ventures.  One way to accomplish this is to pass a key provision from the American Jobs Act, cutting the payroll tax in half for 98 percent of businesses.”

Hallandale Beach Mayor Joy Cooper was one of 25 mayors in Florida who sent a letter to leaders in the United States Congress and to the members of the Florida Congressional delegation, urging passage of the Jobs Act.
