The Miami Herald Recommends Debbie Wasserman Schultz

OUR OPINION: For U.S. House of Representatives District 20
U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a Weston Democrat, is opposed by Republican Karen Harrington, a Davie restaurant owner.
Ms. Harrington, 45, wants to raise the age for collecting Social Security, get rid of the so-called “death tax” and garner more federal support for small businesses. She identifies closely with the tea-party movement.
Ms. Wasserman Schultz, 44, is a rising star in the Democratically controlled House. She was first elected in 2004 after serving in the Legislature for 10 years. She is a voice for young parents’ issues, describing herself as one of “a handful of female representatives with children under age 10” who knows firsthand the many challenges of raising a family.
Our choice is Ms. Wasserman Schultz. Besides being a “go-to” leader on domestic issues, the policy-oriented Ms. Wasserman Schultz serves on the House Select Intelligence Oversight Panel, giving her an expertise on national-security issues.
