Debbie is fighting for us
Debbie has introduced three major pieces of legislation that would protect Florida’s health, communities, and environment.
- Protecting Access to Lifesaving Screenings Act (PALS Act) of 2017, which helps ensure that women are covered for mammograms and other preventative health measures by their insurers.
- Fair Housing for Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Survivors Act of 2017, which prohibits federal, state, or local governments from discriminating against survivors of either domestic violence or sexual assault.
- Marine Oil Spill Prevention Act, which will increase our ability as well as the resources available to prevent and respond to oil spills.
In Debbie’s words:
ON WOMEN”S HEALTH: “Women’s health and reproductive rights are under assault in the White House. Denying women access to basic health care is absolutely unacceptable.”
ON OUR ENVIRONMENT: “I’m ready to work with anyone who is serious about protecting our air, our water, and our planet.”

In case you missed it, Debbie joined hundreds of protesters outside of the Capitol to protest Republican efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

Debbie was proud to stand with millions of Americans against the disastrous repeal and replace plans pushed by Republicans. Millions would have lost their care, and millions more would have been saddled with skyrocketing premiums and fewer benefits. Watch the clip here >>
Highlights (and Lowlights) From Florida
President Donald Trump formally began withdrawing the United States from the International Paris Climate Agreement. Debbie criticized that decision in an op-ed in the Miami Herald about how climate change is affecting and will continue to affect South Florida families. You can read it here >>
“And if the near-universal conclusions of climate scientists aren’t enough for him, perhaps he should consult with the property appraisers or insurance companies in South Florida who are already factoring sea level rise into their home value assessments. After all, he claims to know a thing or two about real estate.”
