Wasserman Schultz Statement on Veterans Day
Today we honor and thank all those who served our nation in defense of freedom, democracy and liberty. Their bravery and selflessness is a debt our nation will never be able to fully repay.
Sunrise, Fla. – U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) chairs the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee and she released the following statement on Veterans Day:
“Today we honor and thank all those who served our nation in defense of freedom, democracy and liberty. Their bravery and selflessness is a debt our nation will never be able to fully repay.
“But we must not be complacent in merely thanking our veterans for their service. We need to back it up with action. I’m proud that House Democrats have succeeded in securing strong funding for some of the services our veterans need most: mental health, suicide prevention, expanded health care access for women veterans, homeless assistance, and so much more. We are also committed to improving and expanding the care, education and job opportunities that veterans need to transition into civilian life. But our work is far from over.
“We cannot waver in providing the support, benefits and resources our brave women and men earned while serving in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, National Guard and Reserves. The sacrifices they have made must be repaid the only way we can: by ensuring every veteran, once they return home, has the chance to pursue all that America promises.”
