WASSERMAN SCHULTZ STATEMENT ON FACEBOOK AMBER ALERTS INITIATIVE
WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) released the following statement today after Facebook announced that it was incorporating Amber Alerts into users’ news feeds:
“The inclusion of Amber Alert messages into Facebook’s newsfeed is a savvy and empathetic strategy that will save lives,” said U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.). “In an ever-evolving media landscape, more and more Americans are turning to their mobile devices to stay informed of developments in their community, nationwide and around the world. As a mother of school-aged children, I can’t imagine the panic that a parent must feel when their child is missing. Comprehensive child security is constantly top-of-mind for me as both a parent and a policymaker, and I look forward to this rollout and its role in rescuing more kids by providing quick, real-time information for quick action.”
